About Fujiiko

Fujiiko is the ever-evolving work of myself, Kodi Fujii. Previously known as Hold Your Colour Clothing.

Fujiiko is a new chapter in my life where I can share all my creative erdeavors and passions, as a multi-disciplinary artist and person. I have been sewing for over 20 years, but I have also spent a majority of my life in a garden and 10 years aquiring herbalism knowledge.. The last 6 years I have been honing the art of distilling plants and making hydrosols/essential oils. I shoot photography as well as make art including dyeing, print-making, pyrography, drawing and painting.

I'm a life long maker, but my journey creating clothing began in 2004. I had already been driving my mom crazy, cutting up and re-sewing my back-to-school clothes with dental floss and a lighter. She finally bought me a sewing machine and I got into screenprinting class the same year. I started cutting up my screenprint shirts and shirts I got from punk shows into dresses and tops. Pretty quickly got hired by an arts initiative to be in an upcycled fashion show. It went so well I was asked to come back and run the whole thing the next time and there was no looking back after that.

Early on, I went to Nepal to work with a womens collective. I've spent time designing for and styling photoshoots, collaborating with models and artists, vending at festivals, creating outfits for musicians and performers and, all the time, running an online shop.

Over the years, my creativity has led me through many dusty festival grounds, sacred gardens, fashion shows, thrift shops and even abroad. I always return to the same core values of self expression, sustainability and story telling through craft. The journey isn't straight, but every experience and encounter with a wise witch, a playful spirit and a dancing misfit, I become the matriarch of my own myth.

My creations live on, making their way into gardens and forest, across dance floors and oceans. Sometimes, they even spark a conversation between new friends. Fujiiko is more than a brand, it's a living folktale in the making. A village legend, whispered through the trees and written on stained parchment, for those who still believe in magic and those who are just beginning to remember.
